SHAD TR55 Terra Top Box - 55 Litres

Excellent service and speedy delivery. I did have one issue in that when I received my Shad top box and fixing plate and tried to fit it to my bike the holes didn’t line up on the factory fitted rack. I tried calling but was only able to leave a message and they would me call back but there was a chat option which I got an immediate reply from their production manager. When I explained my problem I was told I needed to order another fixing plate specific to my bike which was needed with the fixing plate I had already ordered. Clearly my mistake but when I chose the top box it had a choice of 3 fixing plates and I added 1 assuming that was all I needed so don’t feel it was made that clear. Not a big problem as I was given the link to the additional fixing plate needed which I have ordered and is on back order. The only annoying thing is that although I have already spent over £400 which had free postage I have now had to pay postage for the additional plate.

bought alongside the Terra panniers (47l). We wanted a top box which could take 2 full face/flip front lids which this does. Silver aluminium matches body panels on the bike which is nice. The more conservative styling, compared to e.g. SW Motech, is more to our liking (no Charlie and Euan pretenders). The matched inner bag is also used for the 47l panniers so it comes up small in the TB, but this is fine as a) it allows some spare space to shove in bottled water and b) it encourages you to respect the 10kg carrying capacity limit. Because the Terra panniers are clam opening, as opposed to top opening, there is no conflict between an open pannier lid and the TB which may explain why other manufacturers don't have a TB of this size in aluminium. Shad have an odd system where you buy a TB conversion plate to match your bike, the TB mounting plate is then added to to, your TB then fits on top. This additional plate adds both cost and weight.
